Ofsted Report
We are very proud to have been graded as an ‘Outstanding’ provision again by Ofsted again in November 2019.

Menus/Early Years Catering
We welcome a fresh approach to all children’s food and offer the choice of either a Pre-school hot meal or packed meal from home each term.
The hot meal service is provided by Early Years Catering. The menus have been selected to provide food which meets and exceeds the government’s compulsory minimum nutritional requirements through a balanced diet.
The menus run on a four week cycle, which will be available termly in advance. If you wish to find out more, please visit their website.

Childcare Vouchers/Tax Free Childcare
Childcare voucher schemes work through salary sacrifice, which means parents can opt to receive childcare vouchers instead of part of their salary. Occasionally, employers choose to give childcare vouchers to their staff in addition to their usual pay. In both cases, the vouchers are free of tax and national insurance for parents and employers.
You can pay Jack and Jill Pre-school fees using childcare vouchers. If you would like to do so approach your employer and ask if they operate a voucher system.
Tax free childcare is a new initiative that supports parents with their childcare costs by topping up money they deposit into their online childcare account. For every £8 deposited the government will add an additional £2 up to £2000 per year.
Jack and Jill Pre-school is set up to accept payments via the Tax free childcare scheme.

Free Entitlement/30 Hours Offer
From September 2011 the Free Entitlement was set at 570 hours per annum to be taken over no fewer than 38 weeks per annum and no more than 6 hours in any one day for all three and four years. This amounts to 11.875 hours per week over 48 weeks and 15 hours per week over 38 weeks per annum.
If you are the parent/carer of a two year old and you receive certain benefits you could be eligible to apply for a free early education place. To find out more, and to apply, please visit the Bristol City Council website.
The free entitlement is available to all children from the first day of term following their third birthday.

There is no requirement to pay any fees unless you wish to take additional services. Additional services include meals, snacks, Outdoor Learning, holiday club activities (when applicable) and additional hours over and above the Free Entitlement.
The Department for Education is also providing additional funding for eligible children who are three and four years old and are accessing their free early education entitlement. This additional funding is called the Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP), and its aim is to provide additional funding to early years settings in order to raise the quality of your child’s early education.
Early years settings will be able to use this additional funding creatively to offer more opportunities for eligible three and four year olds with the aim of improving learning and development outcomes.

Please note: we encourage children to have healthy snacks during their sessions and all dietary requirements are catered for. If you do not wish your child to be provided with a snack please inform the office.
The Free Entitlement could be subject to change during an academic year. We therefore reserve the right to amend our fee structure accordingly.
The 30 Hour Offer
We support eligible families to claim up to 30 hours per week of free childcare. To check your eligibility and to find out more about the scheme please visit the Childcare choices web site or speak to member of the office staff who will be happy to help you.
The Bristol Standard
Jack and Jill Pre-school are proud to have gained the Bristol Standard for the year 2023/24. The Bristol Standard is a self-evaluation framework that enables settings to develop and improve the quality and effectiveness of their provision.
The framework identifies good practice and identifies the setting’s strengths, what they want to improve and how this will benefit the children. It involves working together on developments to improve outcomes for all children and families. A portfolio is submitted annually for validation.
In using the Bristol Standard, practitioners become part of a process that protects and celebrates the wonder of childhood through well-informed and reflective practice. It is recognised nationally as an example of excellence and has been adopted by a number of other authorities in the South West.

Guidance on Infection Control
Please click here to see Public Health England’s Guidance on Infection Control in Schools and other Childcare Settings. Jack and Jill Pre-school strictly follow these guidelines with regard to exclusion periods for children suffering from sickness and/or infection.

Policies
Jack and Jill Pre-school’s policies help us make sure that the service we provide is of a very high standard.
Through our policies we endeavour to make everyone involved with Jack and Jill feel that it is an enjoyable and beneficial experience.
The Managing Partners work together to adopt the policies, and then review them on a regular basis. This ensures that new ideas and legislation are included. We also have a parent policy review group which gives parents the opportunity to comment and input to our updates.
All staff and volunteers are made aware of these policies and a copy is available at the Pre-school in reception for parents/carers to view.
